A traffic source is any platform that generates visitors to refer to your campaign funnel. Traffic sources can be different: publishers, ad networks, ad exchanges, Facebook or Google, etc.

If you have not found the traffic source you need in the trusted list, you can create it yourself.

Creating a Traffic Source

Go to the Sources section, click + New.

A traffic source setup window will open.

1. Click Create custom template.
โ€‹

2. Load from templates
Return to the previous window.

3. Traffic source name
Name your source. This name is displayed in the statistics table in the Source column.

4. For affiliates
Marking the traffic source for the Affiliate Panel campaign.

5. Traffic source postback URL

The field for the postback link to the source, which is taken from the side of the traffic source. Correlate the source parameters and PeerClick macros for this link in the prescribed order:

http://source-postback-URL?source-parameter-which-takes-clickid={externalid}&source-parameter={peerclick-macro}

All click IDs sent by the traffic source are recorded as external IDs in PeerClick. Accordingly, to pass the click ID of the source by the postback link, you need to use the {externalid} macro.

6. Pixel redirect URL

Link for sending postback pixel conversions to a traffic source when the s2s postback link is not supported by the traffic source. Read more about Pixel redirect URL.

7. Multi-users

Click on the field and in the window that appears add multi-users who will have access to the source. This setting is available only for accounts without workspaces.

8. Parameters

Accepted source macros. Displayed in the report in groupingsTokens (V1 - Vn).

Add parameters in the prescribed order:

1. Specify the source macros for the reserved PeerClick parameters external_id and cost in the format peerclick_parameter={source_macro}:

- external_id: specify a source macro passing the click ID of the source.

- cost: specify a source macro that passes the cost per traffic unit (visit). This is a required setting if you want to select Cost Type as Auto in the campaign settings.

2. Specify the required parameter in the TokenN cell in the format peerclick_parameter={source_macro}:

Click Create traffic source to complete the configuration.
