Outbrain API Integration
Updated this week

Benefits of API integration with Outbrain

Full API integration gives you the following benefits:

  • Sync costs for campaigns, publishers, sections and ads (campaign, ad_id, publisher_id, section_id).

  • Check the status of your campaigns.

  • Change the bid for campaigns, sections and ads;

  • Pause or resume campaigns, publisher IDs, publisher section IDs, ad IDs (campaign, ad_id, publisher_id, section_id).

Enabling Outbrain API Integration

To enable Outbrain API integration:

1. Request access to the Outbrain Amplify API.

By default, this access is disabled. To enable it, you will need to contact Outbrain. You can do this via the contact form here https://lp.outbrain.com/partner-api-form/ or you can ask Outbrain support to enable it for you.

2. Edit an existing campaign or create a campaign in PeerClick

  • If your PeerClick account has a campaign with the Outbrain traffic channel:

1. Go to the Traffic channels section.

2. Select Outbrain from the list of channels and click Edit.

3. In the traffic channel settings window that appears, click the Load from templates button.

4. In the list of templates, select the Outbrain icon.

5. Click Save.

  • If your PeerClick account does not have a campaign with the Outbrain traffic channel:

1. Create an Outbrain traffic channel using a template:

1.1. Go to the Traffic channel section.

1.2. Click the +New button.

1.3. In the list of templates, select the Outbrain icon.

1.4. Click Create traffic channel.

2. Create a campaign in PeerClick using the Outbrain traffic channel.

3. Copy the campaign link.

4. Go to your Outbrain account and create a campaign. Instead of the offer link, use the PeerClick campaign link you copied earlier.

3. Add an integration

1. Go to the Integrations section.

2. Click on the Outbrain icon.

3. Enter the email used to log in to your Outbrain account.

4. Enter the password used to log in to your Outbrain account.

5. Enter your Outbrain account name.

6. Activate auto-matching if necessary.

7. Save the changes.

Auto-matching with Outbrain

1. If an Outbrain campaign uses ads with different PeerClick links, this campaign will not be matched.

2. Campaigns are matched by postfix, and not by complete matching of parameters.

3. It is allowed when one PeerClick campaign link is used in 2 or more Outbrain campaigns.

! If you have many Outbrain campaigns to match, it will take a lot of time to match due to Outbrain API limits. The more campaigns you need to match, the more time it will take.
