Usually in trackers traffic is distributed equally and randomly between paths, landers and offers according to every component weight. It is correctly, but not optimally. A user who sees your lander today is less likely to become a lead, than a user who is redirected to another lander or path where a new offer is shown. The possibility to convert users into leads showing them the same path many times is really small. Taking into account these ideas, we have implemented a Smart Rotation functionality to optimize traffic distribution.
To enable Smart Rotation functionality:
1. Go to the campaign editing window.
2. On the right side open the Smart rotation block.
3. Choose one of 10 available variations.
All cases of rotation are considered in the context of one Peerclick user. Rotation does not work between different users.
Normal rotation - standard rotation, when paths, landers and offers are selected depending on the weight. For example, we have 3 offers, their weights are indicated as follows: Offer1 = 3, Offer2 = 5, Offer3 = 1. The probability of choosing a particular offer is calculated by the formula:
P = Weight(offer)/Weight(all)
P = 1 / (1 + 3 + 5) = 11.11% - the probability of choosing Offer 3.
Smart Path - rotation, when the path which has already been visited by a user is eliminated. The rest paths are selected depending on the weight. Offers and landers are selected using a normal rotation method.
Smart Path & Lander - this kind of rotation first takes the path which has already been visited by a user. Then it eliminates the landers of this path which have been visited by the user. If all the selected landers are eliminated, then a new path is selected depending on the weight using the normal rotation method. Further, landers and offers will be selected by a normal rotation method.
Smart Path & Lander & Offer - firstly this kind of rotation takes the path which has already been visited by a user. Then it eliminates the landers of this path which have been visited by the user. After that it eliminates all the visited offers of this path. After all the offers of the first selected lander are eliminated a new lander is chosen and the rotation goes through all the new lander bundles and the offers. If all the landers and offers have already been eliminated, a new path is chosen and the rotation will go through all the lander bundles and the offers as it has been described earlier. Landers and offers will be selected by a normal rotation method.
Fix Path - this kind of rotation remembers a fix path when a user first time goes through the tracker link. Next clicks on the link will lead to this path. Landers and offers will be selected by a normal rotation method.
Fix Path & Lander - this kind of rotation remembers a fix path and a lander when a user first time goes through the tracker link. Next clicks on the link will lead to this path and lander. Landers and offers will be selected by a normal rotation method.
Fix Path & Lander & Offer - this kind of rotation remembers a fix path, lander and offer when a user first time goes through the tracker link. Next clicks on the link will lead to this path, lander and offer.
The difference between Sequential Rotation and Smart Rotation is that the further path / offer / lander is selected not depending on weight, but depending on the order place. The lower path / landing / offer will be selected.
